Since I saw kobold at Inter-BEE for the first time, I always wanted to use this equipment in my shootings. Now after having used it, I can say that kobold completely fulfilled my expectations. This time, our film budget was very limited and we had to strictly follow the schedule; the kobold DW200 and DW 400 became our strong partner to make this possible.

Nearly at the end of our shooting, we experienced the feature of kobold lamps in the rain. Although we did not take care of them under heavy rain, the light never failed. All we had to do was just wipe off the units and put them back in the carrying case after shooting, which makes me feel that kobold is very reliable. Not just the fact that they could be operated in the rain, but also the compact design and variety of accessories were really useful.

They worked perfectly from home wall plugs, as well as from small power generators, and that feature made it very helpful to set the lighting as fill light and sometimes even key light etc. The kobold lights and ballast are very compact, light weight and immediate hot restrike. This makes them easier to handle and more reliable than other HMI’s especially when the lights often have to be changed in position and in a very short time. Just great, the best lighting equipment I ever used.
